General comments:
Given that there is no shortage of foodplant (brambles), the extremely local distribution pattern for this species is rather surprising. Clearly other factors are of profound importance. The moth is fairly distinctive; the larvae skeletonise bramble leaves. There are said to be three generations of adults per year in Britain. Old records are from the Sandridge area prior to 1890 (Griffith, and the Ashridge Estate prior to 1937 (Hervey), neither of which can be mapped. Recorded in 8 (20%) of 41 10k Squares.
