Widespread and common.

Separation from Acleris comariana always requires genitalia inspection. Almost all our records support the text book position that Acleris laterana flies in August and September in a single generation, rendering separation from Acleris comariana easy as this latter species flies in two generations, in June/July then late August to early October.

However, several captures contravene that rule and so emphasise the need to dissect specimens of this species pair for satisfactory identification.
