General comments:
Widespread but rather locally distributed.

Apparently scarce in the past, with only a single record given in the 1937 county list (From Hitchin, in 1934), this species has certainly become more numerous in the years since about 2000. I failed to find it in my garden light trap from 1987 to 1999 and caught my first in 2000; it has been a regular visitor in each year since then, albeit in single figures. Throughout the entire period, there has been no apparent change to the mature Scots Pine trees a hundred yards or so away from my garden - except that some were felled!
