Apotomis sororculana

(Zetterstedt, 1839)1095 / 49.152

General comments
Widespread but local resident.

Much confused with A. betuletana and A. capreana and so much under-recorded. The boundary between the basal black area and the apical white area of the forewings should be scrutinised with regard to (a) the angle that this boudary line meets the costa and (b) the shape of the outer edge of the black area (straight or raggedy). In addition, sororculana is the only one of the three with a pale whitish costal patch in the black area of the forewing.

Recorded in 3 (7%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 2008.
Last Recorded in 2023.
