Widespread and common.

Almost all records are of larvae, which are recorded by prising open seed heads of Teasel plants (ideally wearing gloves!). It is important to note that the head and prothoracic plate of the caterpillar of this species are dark brown; this separates them from the larva of Endothenia marginana
