Endothenia quadrimaculana

(Haworth, 1811)1104 / 49.193

General comments:
Extremely local resident.

Recorded 1968; re-found in 2008 after a gap of 40
years. The few modern records are widespread and
suggest localised residency.

Notes from Plant (2016) An example of this species was taken at light at Rye Meads RSPB reserve, on 25 July 2008 (Joan Childs). Previously, the species was known in the county only from two examples at Borehamwood in 1968, by Eric Bradford. As these are the only reports, it seems most likely that they relate to wandering adults. The larvae mine the stems and roots of Marsh Woundwort Stachys palustris.

Middlesex Notes: Local, with sites scattered over a wide area of the west and north of the county.

Recorded in 9 (22%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1959.
Last Recorded in 2018.
