General comments:
Extremely local, but often common where found.

Many text books suggest that this is a coastal species, associated with plants of Thrift, but maps show a complete coast to coast coverage and there are reports of larvae on Common Bird's-foot Trefoil.
The possibility of a cryptic species is surely worth investigation. In our area, an empty pupa case was found protruding from a Thrift plant in a garden in Bushey, Herts, on 21st June 1979 (Barry Goater), but all our other reports are of adults. It may be desirable to obtain modern samples from a range of Herts and Middlesex locations and submit these for DNA bar-coding.
