Epinotia ramella

(Linnaeus, 1758)1134 / 49.249

General comments:
Widespread and common.

This species flies later than Epinotia bilunana and this makes easy the separation of this sometimes difficult species pair. They both depend on the same food source and are expected to occur together. There is potential for overlap in July, when males of bilunana are recognised by the presence of a basal fold on the costa of the fore wing - a feature absent from males of ramella.

Recorded in 27 (66%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1890.
Last Recorded in 2023.
