General comments:
Widespread but very local resident.

The spread of records and the fact that the species is numerically common in sites where it is found suggests an under-recorded species. Interestingly, however, though recorded in my garden in Bishops Stortford in 1989 I have not seen it here since. Birches and Alder provide the larval foodplants.
