General comments:
Extremely local resident and vagrant.

The wetland species is probably under-recorded, but nevertheless is certainly extremely local in terms of distribution in our area and is almost always numerically scarce. There are infrequent captures of presumed wandering adults at light traps away from wetland areas. As a breeding species, the moth is extremely vulnerable to the cutting (and especially burning) of reeds. Although traditional reed management involves regular cutting, this must surely be modified where sites are very small and physically isolated; burning of cut reeds has no place whatsoever in the ecological management of wetland - its only value is to satisfy the base instincts of conservation volunteers.
