We have just three Hertfordshire records for this species of chalk downland and Breckland. These are from Hertford (Stephens, 1834), Aldbury in 1900 (Nathaniel Rothschild) and Ashridge in 1937 (J. K. Hervey). These are the sources of the pre-1970 records reported in Parsons (1993) without detail. It is extremely unlikely that this species still thrives in the county, but a thorough search of the chalk grasslands between Tring and Dunstable in late May or early June has probably never been undertaken.
