Donacaula forficella

(Thunberg, 1794)1329 / 63.121

General comments:
Widespread but local resident,

This species appears to be far more widespread than Schoenobius gigantella and is evidently able to thrive in wetlands with quite small areas of reed bed. At Sawbridgeworth Marsh it is probably associated with the sedges, as indeed it is at Rushey Mead Nature Reserve in Bishops Stortford (which is on the North Essex side of the river).

Recorded in 24 (59%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1890.
Last Recorded in 2023.
