Elophila nymphaeata

(Linnaeus, 1758)1345 / 63.114
=Nymphula nymphaeata

General comments:
Widespread and common resident.

The aquatic larvae at first mine leaves of water plants and later feed externally from a case constructed of cut sections of leaves. Almost any well-vegetated static water body will suffice, including garden ponds and though some adults may disperse, the distribution map is probably a close representation of the true breeding distribution in the county.

Recorded in 33 (80%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1885.
Last Recorded in 2024.
