Aglossa caprealis

(Hubner, [1809])1420 / 62.073

General comments:
Absent

Our records are from the Hertford area (Stephens, 1834), the Sandridge area (Griffith, 1890), the Cheshunt area (Boyd, 1901), East Barnet (Gillum, in Foster, 1937) and St. Albans 'under straw litter in a box' on 31st July 1934 (reported by Mark Parsons). The most recent map dot relates to a moth at mv light in a tiny garden on the Kings Road, Fulham on 21 July 1981 (Jeremy Burge). I saw the specimen, but sadly the entire collection is now probably lost. Modern farming methods and the lack of poorly-maintained thatched roofs are probably the two main reasons for the decline and loss of this moth from the local fauna.

Recorded in 6 (15%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1834.
Last Recorded in 1981.
