Galleria mellonella

(Linnaeus, 1758)1425 / 62.006

General comments
Widespread but seldom captured.

A good many records are made in areas devoid of bee hives and there can be so doubt that either the moth is surviving on feral Honey Bee nests or else it is invading the nests of one or more species of bumble bee.

Recorded in 33 (80%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1885.
Last Recorded in 2023.
