Corcyra cephalonica

(Stainton, 1866)1427 / 62.004

General comments
Importation- now absent.

In the Transactions of the City of London Entomological Society for 1901, L. B. Prout records this species in "The London Docks". There is no other information available. The City of London society was mirrored across the Thames in the "South London Entomological Society"; it can be fairly certain that if "The London Docks" referred to those units more usually called the "Surrey Docks" south of the river, then the SLENHS Transactions would have been selected to carry the news. Thus, we can be fairly certain that we are referring to the docks between Tower Bridge in the west and the River Lea in the east on the northern bank of the River Thames = Middlesex.
