Aphomia sociella

(Linnaeus, 1758)1428 / 62.001

General comments
Widespread or ubiquitous; usually common.

The fact that this species prefers nests of bumble bees over hive bee nests as a breeding place probably accounts for its comparative success as it is not usually in a position to be eradicated by bee-keepers.

Recorded in 36 (88%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1885.
