Correct identification of many captured examples of Dioryctria species is often very tricky (especially in females, as the sex displays no particular differences in the genitalia). Our records are concentrated in areas with woodland that contain Scots Pine in reasonable quantity, but some of the records might relate to wandering individuals from these places.
