Nephopterix angustella

(Hübner, 1796)1465 / 62.032

General comments:
Widespread and common.

Barry Goater's 1986 book on British pyralids records this species from Cambridgeshire and Essex to Herefordshire and Devon, stating that it prefers calcareous soils, inhabiting hedges and scrub wherever the foodplant grows. This may perhaps have been the historic situation, put today it is found wherever Spindle bushes are grown, including domestic gardens.

Recorded in 30 (73%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1900.
Last Recorded in 2023.
