Adela reaumurella

(Linnaeus, 1758)150 / 7.006

General comments:
A widespread and very common moth in woodland edge, hedgerow and similar habitat. There is a very strong association with deciduous oaks and all the male swarms for which any detail is available appear to be associated with these trees. Adults fly in April and May but rather than gradually appearing and building up numbers over days there seems to be a single synchronised emergence - one day there are none and the next they are "everywhere".

Recorded in 32 (78%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1890.
Last Recorded in 2025.
