General comments:
Extremely local and scarce resident. Perhaps declining.

Larvae were found to be common on Mugwort plants on a verge of the B1000 road west of Hertford, on 31st May 1982 (Raymond Uffen); the species has not been seen in the larval stage in Hertfordshire since (though I have found larvae in the Stort Valley on the Essex side of the border near Bishops Stortford). The foodplant grows widely throughout the county, but the ruderal habitats that support larger patches of it are increasingly rare and it may be that the general tidying of Hertfordshire is putting this species at risk. The absence from Middlesex is surprising.
