Psychoides filicivora

(Meyrick, 1937)200 / 12.048

General comments:

Popularly assumed to have been introduced with ferns imported from overseas, until recent years it was restricted to western and southern maritime counties. However, it thrives in glasshouses and domestic dwellings where it favours Hart`s-tongue fern (Phyllitis scolopendrium). It is widespread across the county but very local. It is perhaps spreading - the irst record for the north-east of our area was not made until April 2024 (at Bishops Stortford)..

The first Middlesex occurrence seems to have been in 1998 at the Wildlife Garden of the Natural History Museum in South Kensington.

Recorded in 15 (37%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1998.
Last Recorded in 2023.
