General comments:
In 2022, it was demonstrated (Entomologist's Record: 134) that there are problems separating the Acer-feeding species - rufipennella; hemidactylella, honoratella, semifascia on wing pattern alone; there is also a concern that two non-British species (juratae and fribergensis) are likely to reach Britain. Consequently, in all but the smallest number of cases, adults of all these species require genitalia examination to prove their identity.

Hertfordshire Notes:
Published reports of adults at different locations in Bishop's Stortford in 2013 and 2016, and of larval mines on Sycamore at Scales Park in 2017 and Nomansland Common in 2018 are yet to be critically confirmed and are probably in error.
