Parectopa ononidis

(Zeller, 1839)299 / 15.001

Hertfordshire Notes:
Widespread, but local. Probably under-recorded. Young caterpillars mine the underside of young leaves of clovers and can be difficult to spot, though as the larva gets more mature the mines become full-depth and can become visible from above without needing to turn over every single leaf.

Middlesex Notes:
Local and usually scarce, though the leaf mine, on Red Clover Trifolium pratense, is likely to be very much overlooked.

Mine: Either the leaf or a good photograph required

Recorded in 17 (41%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1981.
Last Recorded in 2023.
