General comments:
Most species of Parnornix can be named reliably from their larval mines but in cases of difficulty the adults should be reared through for examination. However, almost wild-caught adults will be worn, to at least some degree, and in most cases we will insist on genitalia examination to obtain the correct species name.

Widespread and abundant. Potentially ubiquitous. The larva makes easily recognised sub-rectangular mines on the underside of Hazel Corylus avellana leaves before later feeding in a folded leaf edge - usually the same leaf.
