General comments:
Absent or overlooked. Formerly known as P. sapporella.
We have a single historical record, from the Sandridge area prior to 1890 (Griffith). This is the source of the Hertfordshire 'dot' in volume 2 of Moths and Butterflies of Great Britain and Ireland. Other than this, it was reported on several occasions as an adult in the various light traps of the Rothamsted Insect Survey around the Rothamsted Estate at Harpenden in the 1980s.

Almost all Phyllonorycter mines on oak will require rearing through of the adult for accurate identification.It may be added that no voucher material has been found to support these Harpenden data.

	Mine: Moth needs to be reared and, in some cases, possibly dissected.
