General comments:
Local and scarce in our area. Allegedly the most frequent species to be found mining leaves of Wild Service trees (Sorbus torminalis), but the leaves of this rather rare tree are sometimes mined by P. oxyacanthae and P. sorbi as well, so it is important to rear adults to confirm the identity. Phyllonorycter mespilella also mines Rowan - including in our area. Just to further confuse the situation, a supposed mine of P. mespillella in a Wild Service leaf from Horsenden Hill produced an adult P. hostis.

	Mine: Moth needs to be reared and, in some cases, possibly dissected.
