General comments:
This is another species that makes a mine that is immediately recognisable - this one on the upper surface of Hornbeam leaves. Away from the hornbeam-dominated woodlands on the south-eastern gravels the mines are evident on trees planted in gardens. Leaf mines are numerically common in some years, but between these years are slightly longer periods of relative scarcity.
