Phyllonorycter joannisi

Joannis, 1920363 / 15.085
=Phyllonorycter platanoidella

General comments:
The validity of this species as one that is distinct from Phyllonorycter acerifoliella has been questioned in the past, as they are very similar in wing pattern and genitalia. Current thinking regards the two as distinct. The distribution closely follows the planting of Norway Maple in parks and on road verges. Our first record was from the West Car Park at Broxbourne Wood on 12th September 1981, when Maitland Emmet found mines.
