Argyresthia curvella

(Linnaeus, 1761)414 / 20.015

General comments
Widespread and usually common.
This is the curvella of Linnaeus, not curvella of Stainton and other authors. Foster (1937) lists this species as nitidella Fabr. nec Hubner (purpurascentella Stt.) from St. Albans (Gibbs), Sandridge (Griffith), Cheshunt (Boyd), Letchworth (Edwards) Harpenden (Fryer) and Hitchin (Durrant, Foster). Between 1972 and 1987 there was much confusion between this species and A. bonnetella and records from that period should ideally be verified by reference to voucher specimens. Worn Argyresthia specimens in the bottom of moth traps are often ignored, but it is likely that if these were examined the map for the present species might improve.
