Eidophasia messingiella

(Fischer von Röslerstamm, 1840)469 / 18.007

General comments:
Local and scarce - perhaps declining. This is a species of "wastelands" - for which read ruderal habitats, but also unmanaged road verges and similar. The larval foodplant is Hoary Cress (Lepidium draba). There are no old records to prove it, but the moth may have been lost from the largely arable area of northern hertfordshire; it is increasingly difficult these days to find an un-managed road verge.

Recorded in 17 (41%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1963.
Last Recorded in 2023.
