Coleophora currucipennella

Zeller, 1839534 / 37.054

General comments:
All of the Coleophora species in our area are under-recorded; naming most requires either finding the larvae or dissecting the genitalia of the adults (or both!). For this reason, notes made here are deliberately short, but will be updated on a species by species basis as information surfaces.

Vagrant / absent?. On oaks, Hornbeam and willows. Nationally rare. Our only records are for the Sandridge area, in the years before 1890 by Griffith (I have not been able to locate a voucher specimen for checking) and the garden at Enfield Vicarage, 28th July 1980 (David Agassiz).

Determination by Genitalia Examination Required

Case: A good quality photo or specimen of the case and plant/pabulum is required.

Recorded in 2 (5%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1890.
Last Recorded in 1980.
