Luquetia lobella

([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)668 / 32.003

General comments:
Widespread but local in Hertfordshire, but surprisingly absent from Middlesex.
The preferred habitat is low growing stems of Blackthorn suckers in the base of mixed ancient hedges; hedges with dense Blackthorn are said to be shunned. Larvae spin webs under leaves less than a metre above ground. It comes sparingly to light, but is otherwise rarely seen so is likely to be very much under-recorded.

Recorded in 13 (32%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1890.
Last Recorded in 2023.
