Agonopterix ciliella

(Stainton, 1849)689 / 32.019

General comments:
Local and scarce.
In spite of its ability to thrive on several umbelliferous plants, including Hogweed, Angelica and Wild Carrot, there are rather few records of this moth in our counties. It is very easily confused with Agonopterix heracliana; all recent records of ciliella are confirmed by genitalia dissection, but not all heracliana are so validated and there is a possibility, though very small, that some of the latter are misidentified ciliella.

Recorded in 12 (29%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1890.
Last Recorded in 2024.
