Agonopterix subpropinquella

(Stainton, 1849)692 / 32.015

General comments:
Widespread but local. Not uncommon. Larvae on knapweeds, thistles and burdocks.
Although overwintering as an adult, this moth is more usually reported in the autumn, especially August, than in the spring. This perhaps reflects the wanderings of entomologists since, although evidently widespread, the moth's foodplant requirements suggest that gardens, the source of most spring records of moths in the county, are probably not the preferred habitat.

Recorded in 25 (61%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1890.
Last Recorded in 2023.
