Agonopterix angelicella

(Hübner, 1813)713 / 32.032

General comments:
Extremely local; the tidying of road verges may be preventing any range expansion in north-east Hertfordshire.
Apart from the un-mappable record from the Sandridge area made prior to 1890 (Griffith) and another which is arbitrarily assigned to the most likely tetrad from Bricket Wood in 1931 (Fryer), this moth is restricted in Hertfordshire to the upper reaches of the River Stort. In Middlesex we have one record only, from an unspecified part of Hillingdon in 1988. The preferred foodplant is said to be Angelica sylvestris.

Recorded in 5 (12%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1890.
Last Recorded in 2020.
