Bryotropha politella

(Stainton, 1851)788 / 35.039

General comments:
Extremely local, but potentially under-recorded.
Our two historic records are from the Sandridge area prior to 1890 and from Turnford Lock, in the Lea Valley, prior to 1901 (Boyd). One recent confirmed report is from the Penn Hills area of Therfield Heath.

Separation from B. terrella requires examination of the genitalia and if all examples of this more common species are not dissected it is possible that records of politella may be missed.

Determination by Genitalia Examination Required

Recorded in 3 (7%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1890.
Last Recorded in 2014.
