Scrobipalpa costella

(Humphreys & Westwood, 1845)819 / 35.123

General comments:
Widespread and common resident.
The caterpillar makes distinctive upper surface blotch mines on the leaves of Woody Nightshade Solanum dulcamara. The mines appear "messy" and contain obvious frass; this distinguishes them from the mines of Acrolepia autumnitella which are "clean-looking, white and full depth containing little or no frass.

Recorded in 30 (73%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1950.
Last Recorded in 2024.
