Mompha lacteella

(Stephens, 1834)887 / 40.003

General comments:

Very much local and rarely numerous; strangely absent from Middlesex.

Can be confused with M. propinquella. The larva mines a succession of lower leaves of Broad-leaved Willow-herb (and possibly also Great Willow-herb), in March/April - hollowing out the entire leaf and leaving black frass behind.

Recorded in 5 (12%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 2014.
Last Recorded in 2022.
