General comments:
Widespread and common.

There are two generations of caterpillars. Those in May/June feed inside the stem causing a spindle-shaped swelling (usually in the flowering region), before chewing an emergence hole. There may be several galls per stem. The July/August generation feeds inside a seed pod showing no signs of its presence other than a very small hole.
