General comments

Widespread but very much local resident, that has become more frequent in recent years.

Specifically looked out for and not found in many parts of our two counties, it is now becoming an expected species in light traps. The shining white head of the male is diagnostic and immediately separates this species from Pandemis cerasana but it must be remembered that females lack this feature and may require closer examination. In fresh eaxmples, females of cinnamomeana have a slight orange tint to the apex of the hind wing; females of cerasana completely lack this colour at this position and the hind wings are wholly grey. Worn examples may need genitalia examination.
