General comments:
Extremely local resident and occasional immigrant

The Balsam Carpet was first discovered as British as recently as 1955 in the Colne Valley between Middlesex and Buckinghamshire. It is rarely but regularly found in the Colne Valley at places such as Maple Cross but it may now be extinct in Cassiobury Park, Watford; it should be looked for here and elsewhere. There may be unknown breeding sites, but occasional reports across the area are generally regarded to relate to either immigrants or, at best, vagrants from out-of-county sites.
