Hertfordshire Notes: Widespread, but local, restricted by the need for a grassland habitat. From our earliest record in the St Albans area (Gibbs, 1889) to the present day this is a common moth of grasslands in Hertfordshire. In Middlesex in particular it is almost certainly under-recorded. There is a tendency on the part of some observers to assume that all Glyphipterix species will be simpliciella, but if samples are collected this myth is likely to be shattered.
