Hertfordshire Notes:
Widespread, but local, restricted by the need for a grassland habitat. From our earliest record in the St Albans area (Gibbs, 1889) to the present day this is a common moth of grasslands in Hertfordshire. In Middlesex in particular it is almost certainly under-recorded. There is a tendency on the part of some observers to assume that all Glyphipterix species will be simpliciella, but if samples are collected this myth is likely to be shattered.

Recorded in 19 (46%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1888.
Last Recorded in 2023.
