General comments:
Widespread but very local resident.

Beginners should be aware of the potential to confuse this species with the Treble-bar. Both species are widespread, but the Treble-bar is found in far more sites than the Lesser Treble-bar in our two counties, though both appear to have similar habitat requirements and identical larval foodplants. Both species seem to be absent from a chunk of north-east Herts and the eastern side of Middlesex.
