General notes:
Larva on Dogwood Cornus sanguinea. Mines on Cornelian Cherry Cornus mas are not made by this species - they are caused by Antispila treitschkiella. For this reason, published reports that do not specify the foodplant have been ignored during the preparation of the distribution maps. The larva cuts a smaller oval than that of Antispila metallella, measuring 4.0 - 5.0 millimetres lengthways, so enabling reliable separation. The adult flies later than metallella. This seems to be the most frequently encountered of the three Antispila species in our two counties.
